Ban Google corporate Twitter pages from search results?

As every curious or ambitious blogger as we can see, where we search engine rank. Because the content here is best categorized as marketing information, Twitter, that is, what we normally check.

At first everything seemed normal. Lot's of articles on the topic as you'd expect. A guest of post on Andy Beal's (http://twitter.com/andybeal) Marketing Pilgrim entitled "200 + Internet marketing gurus on Twitter" tops the list. Marketing in the domain is, Twitter and marketing in the title, it is certainly on topic and has plenty of links to it. Was not too surprised.

Then come some other that.. hmm okay, I can see.

LameTwitterMarketing.com, Dosh Dosh's article ' Twitter marketing: why you don't need to mass follow you Twitter users' (totally agree btw!) - this I can also understand.

Then there are some that don't really belong as a craigslist post currently at # 7.

Then it dawned on me. Where the hell is Twitter.com? Search Google for "Google Marketing" and Google is # 1. "Microsoft Marketing" # 1 goes to a Microsoft.com page. Facebook Gets # 2. Yahoo # 1.

So where is Twitter search for Twitter marketing? Would you believe that # 24? , The's right, page 3. If you're reading this, I am sure that you are familiar with the traffic that goes to the sites on page 3 versus page 1. Amazing.

How could this happen let Twitter?

Here is the kicker. # 24 Result... is a Twitter user profile page that a way to "become a marketing expert with Twitter traffic machine" is promoting. Nothing to do with corporate and even worse it is something that could affect the service to promote.

And you have to love an article on ezinearticles.com with opening sentence…

If anyone should know about the power of Twitter, online marketing and social media sites for more exposure, it should be chiropractor.

You can make the stuff.

So where is Twitter's corporate site in Google rank? Not in the top 100 so it doesn't really matter. The results on Yahoo! are a little different. A Twitter user comes in at a respectable # 2, but the corporate Web site does not already exist.

What I can't figure out is, that we, Twitter know SEO. Search Google for your name. If you are on Twitter, odds are your Twitter profile page will be right up to the top together with LinkedIn.

Do you have a theory? I would love to hear it. Google is intimidated enough to draw some search magic when it comes to Twitter? Is from Twitter intentionally operation on any kind of marketing messaging, until you have developed your business model?

One thing I know whatever it is... I'm on position, make sure that I optimize the copy in my profile page!

Twitter takes ' verified account ' feature (Beta)

The last thing, that you want, whenever you're your business on money from twitter, someone is poaching your company or brand. It happens enough where some users may not be safe if you are talking about the 'real' company / person or an imitator. Of course there are also some great stories of people who assume that no way you talk it, to the 'real' person only to find that you are!

Start new frozen pizza on Twitter just a gimmick?

Virtue of DiGiorno brand pizza teamed up with PR company Weber Shandwick, Twitter, to as part of the launch of a new pizza to use. The Twitter marketing plan is to identify the influential Twitterers and offer their Tweetups pizzas.

Land Rover includes Twitter marketing his New York Auto show promotion

AdAge and others fall that history as Land Rover is planning to use Twitter.

It sounds as you take Twitter profile pages for a period of time the user and can send tweets to your followers and the users are then paid. It's not immediately clear how the user selected for relevance to the theme based or to achieve maximize / minimize duplication, and so on.

Fool says Twitter is not for every small business

Maybe he was written to deliberately artificially inflate an increase of people - the comments or get to the blogosphere and Twittersphere in turmoil. I hope so, certainly because this article on duct tape could be more misleading marketing.


The author somewhat type if you read the article and its response to some of the comments. Sounds like he says you that Twitter can be a part of your marketing mix but that it should not be priority - for businesses, the basics down of their positioning, messaging, etc. nailed still not.


Legitimate companies (and probably some illegal shops, but we are not going) benefit from Twitter. In contrast to the most demand generation it needs just a little creativity and time not money.



While the odd restaurant or Café some headlines because of your tweeting strategy can be grabbing, most small companies have far greater pressing basic needs, the limited time and resources to money from twitter can assign when it comes.


This is a dangerous statement. What follows is even worse. The author describes a list of 8 items claiming that you need before you "interferes with Twitter or Facebook". While some of the most popular tools use the list quote, it is far from comprehensive. The list could be easily 4-5 times as long. We have only scratched the surface if it to creative social media of promotion.
